To create her ring collections with matching earrings Tanja Friedrichs uses gallery wire, an ornamental material used in classical goldsmithing. This is why her pieces, despite the conceptual clarity of their designs, look like “pure adornment”, as she calls it. Whether white or black, the mirror-polished surfaces of each tiny ball sparkle, shine and dance along with their wearer’s movements. Pieces such as the Loope, LA and Quiril rings have been inspired by this graduate designer’s childhood or everyday experiences. They are available in 925 silver, whitened or blackened, as well as in gold. In 2011, Tanja Friedrichs presented her new Pivot collection featuring a “relative” of gallery wire which winds around the finger in the shape of an eminently expressive and at the same time elegant ring, or enhances the wearer’s appearance in the form of charming earrings. Tanja Friedrichs’s works have been honored with several prizes and awards and are represented in leading collections.
