The Virtual Museum is Growing

Fifty pieces by established designers, artists and manufactories were accepted into the MODERN JEWELRY COLLECTION in 2011. Works by several talented young creators were likewise accepted.
Jewelry that wins awards in competitions or is acquired for museums’ collections is often nearly insignificant in real life. The Modern Jewelry Collection, on the other hand, presents an exemplary spectrum of relevant contemporary jewelry culture. Fifty creations were accepted into the Modern Jewelry Collection of ART AUREA’s virtual museum in July 2011. Works by young or established artists are among them, as are examples of modern jewelry design crafted from noble materials in important manufactories and ateliers. Almost 250 pieces by 75 participants from five nations were nominated in 2011.
The Modern Jewelry Collection performs outstanding educational work for the specialized trade and the general public. Its annual selections also lead to the creation of a globally unique virtual museum of modern jewelry culture. Essential preconditions for nomination are distinctively authentic “handwriting” and high-quality design. There are no limitations with regard to nationality or age.
Young designers are explicitly encouraged to participate. Nominated pieces can be viewed at any time, along with brief portraits and CVs of their creators, on ART AUREA’s internet platform: www.artaurea.de/jewelries. All submitted items are evaluated once each year by a group of curators, which includes renowned gallerists and proprietors of modern jewelry shops. In alphabetical order, this year’s winners are:
