The Finnish Goldsmith Association (founded in 1905) has selected a group of 12 Finnish jewellery producers to show contemporary Finnish jewellery design at Midora/Leipzig fair 2010.

The tradition of jewellery making in Finland is based on good craftsmanship and internationally renowned design. The high standard of education was founded in the beginning of the 20th century, when many skilled goldsmiths returned to Finland from Russia due to the Russian revolution. It is interesting to note that most of the goldsmiths at e.g. Faberge were Finns.

The perception of “Finnish Design”, with its international breakthrough in the fifties, has had a strong influence both in jewellery design and in education programs for goldsmiths in Finland. With these traditions in mind the companies and their collections have been selected to the fair in order to show the state of the art in Finland as widely as possible.

The twelve companies selected to represent Finland at Midora fair are: Aito Helsinki, Atelier Torbjörn Tillander, Au 3 Design, Aurifaber, Lapponia Jewelry, Carina Blomqvist, Dunder Design, Heli Kauhanen, Kultaseppä Kulmala, Oz Galleria, Pioni Design and Platinoro.
