The swiss newspaper „L’Impartial“ wrote some time ago about Valentine Dubois: „Leur esthétique se double d’une technique travaillée et de matières originales: argent blanchi ou noirci, pour obtenir un joli ton gris foncé satiné, alu éloxé, acier inox et acier médical. Elle utilise cette dernière matière pour des colliers aériens‚ que l’on peut plieret avec lesquels on peut jouer’. Ce sont ses travaux actuels: ‚Un jeu avec l’architecture que j’aime bien’.

Depuis ses premières créations, des chaînes en maillons, son inspiration s’est épurée, dans un constant renouvellement. Après le cercle, elle a décliné les cubes et les carrés pour confectionner des broches souples, des boucles d’oreilles assorties ou des bagues volumineuses. Dans l’une de celles-ci, un tiroir découvre un miroir: «Ma bague porte-bonheur». Une broche contient une lettre d’amour à demi brûlée, pour la Saint-Valentin.

Sophia Epp
The German jewelry designer Sophia Epp has a talent for creating pieces of jewelry with eminently expressive, ornamental effects based on plain geometrical shapes and sensitively combined materials. Her “Lilly” earrings, for example, crafted from 900 gold and blackened silver, dazzle the beholder with the vivid dynamics emanating from their intersecting lines. Other pieces such as her “Soap Bubbles” or “Circles” necklaces are convincing examples of graphical clarity that nevertheless exude a playful and cheerful vibe. “My goal is to translate things I saw, felt and experienced into wearable and exquisitely crafted jewelry,” explains this master silversmith and jewelry designer who has already been honored with several prizes.
After her years of training and gaining experience by collaborating with prominent goldsmiths such as Hermann Jünger and Erico Nagai, Sophia Epp today dedicates her time entirely to crafting her own jewelry which is represented in renowned international galleries.
