The „Day of Knowledge“ – a symposium on modern jewellery – is hosted by jewellery specialist Joanna Hardy on 10th June 2010 at Goldsmiths´ Hall.

The day has been designed for anyone with an enthusiasm for modern designer-jewellery. Joanna Hardy, together with London jewellers Leo de Vroomen and Shaun Leane will impart their knowledge and passion in a series of illustrated talks. The Goldsmiths´ Company´s outstanding collection of exquisite jewels is rarely seen by the public. Part of the collection will be on special display for this occasion.

Joanna Hardy, with 30 years experience in the jewellery industry, worked for De Beers before becoming an expert diamond dealer. She then turned her attention to antique jewellery as senior jewellery expert at Sotheby´s.

Leo de Vroomen is one of the world´s most prestigious designers of bespoke jewellery and is renowned for his unique use of enamel. He will talk about his career as a designer and goldsmith, and the art of repoussé.

UK Jewellery Designer of the Year, Shaun Leane, internationally celebrated for his darkly romantic jewels will describe his fascination with the evocative mourning jewels and eye miniatures of the 18th and 19th centuries.
