A MAGAZINE LIKE AN ART BOOK

Different from other magazines in many respects: the new ART AUREA
The first response to the new ART AUREA magazine was overwhelming and encouraging. At the Ambiente trade fair in Frankfurt we presented the magazine to leading international design companies. The representatives of ateliers and manufactories as well as designers from Italy, Scandinavia and Germany were impressed by the layout quality, the pictures and the topics covered. Anne Haverkamp from the “Authentics” company was as enthused as Elke Fierenz from the Italian “Alessi” design factory, to give only two examples. Artis Nimanis from the Latvian “an&angel” glass design company commented: “A magazine like an art book!”
With ART AUREA we did indeed intend to create a magazine which, in our overstimulated world, invites people to contemplate and savor the artistically designed objects in all their beauty. For this purpose, the typography is intentionally low-key, doing without any showy effects. Thus, ART AUREA’s message is understood right away, being a forum with a humane, social mission for discerning designers, artists, ateliers, manufactories and their clients.
ENTHUSIASTIC LETTERS
We thank you, dear friends and readers, for the many positive responses, two of which were particularly motivating. Ilse Ebert from Hameln wrote:
“Dear Mr. Ludwig,
I was filled with great delight when I held the new ART AUREA in my hands today. It is informative and covers a wide variety of topics. Congratulations on this beautiful copy. Frankly speaking, I had hoped that you would feel the urge to publish it again … I am already looking forward to the May issue….”
Prof. Dr. Hufnagl, director of the Neue Sammlung (“New Collection”) in Munich, sent us a letter with the following contents:
Dear Mr. Ludwig,
Putting ART AUREA No. 1 aside to study it in peace and quiet on the weekend was worth the while. Congratulations on what I consider a brilliant start. The magazine is fresh, informative and not overladen with inevitable yet not always clamorous advertisements. Just like you I hope that the economic success will also materialize soon because this magazine is necessary and enriches our cultural landscape."
Shortly before the most important international trade fair for modern jewelry design, “Inhorgenta Europe” (Feb. 19–22, 2010), and the “Handwerk & Design” crafts show, a meeting place in Munich for the international jewelry and arts & crafts scene (March 3–9, 2010), we were able to become the media partner for the “Eunique – arts&crafts 2010” fair held in Karlsruhe from June 11 through 13, 2010. Maren Mehlis, its marketing/advertising manager, commented: “ART AUREA is entirely in line with what we do.”

Inhorgenta Europe. General enthusiasm about the rebirth of ART AUREA: Lisa Schuhmacher talking to visitors.
To conclude, we have a big request: Please recommend ART AUREA to all aficionados of ambitious design culture. We will put all our efforts and enthusiasm into producing a wonderful magazine. But to do so we need readers and subscribers.
Yours truly,
Reinhold Ludwig
