PURE ADORNMENT, CLARITY AND POETRY

December 28, 2009 Duisburg

OUR JEWELRY OF THE DAY: “LA” RING FROM TANJA FRIEDRICH’S “PURE ADORNMENTCOLLECTION. 750 GOLD GALLERY WIRE.

When not worn, this ring created by Tanja Friedrichs reminds the beholder of a “sleeping flower” but when put on the finger, it takes on a surprisingly new, elegant shape. To create her ring collections with matching earrings this designer from Duisburg uses gallery wire, an ornamental material used in classical goldsmithing. Despite the conceptual clarity of all her designs, her pieces can also be termed “pure adornment” thanks to their delightfully sensuous haptic properties and the refined plays of light and shadow they present. Whether white or black, the mirror-polished surfaces of each tiny ball sparkle, shine and dance along with their wearer’s movements. Like the “Loope” and “Quiril” lines, our jewelry of the day with the short and cryptic name of “LA” has been inspired by Tanja Friedrich’s childhood or everyday experiences. All her creations are available in 925 silver, whitened or blackened, as well as in gold.
