Christiane Iken creates airy, three-dimensional miniature constructions that play with light and shadow. The repetition of structures and typologies, the tension between positive and negative, between mass and transparency play an important role for her. Set only at the top and bottom, the stones of her “Sparkling” bracelet are free to unfold their sparkle like scintillating fireworks. The light reflections on the wearer’s skin and in the beholder’s eyes demonstrate that even minimalist, clear-cut shapes, when based on an intelligent design, can arouse strong emotions.
