In the 1970s, Doris Neumann was one of the first designers who used glass to create contemporary jewelry. Glass was her medium to lend intellectual thoughts a physical shape and to express her delight in playing. In the eighties, she created minimalist glass jewelry, often in the shape of geometrical rows, for which she gained the highest recognition from eminent jewelry artists. The green or white rings made of cut glass range among Neumann’s classics. Her “Schwingungen” (Vibrations") necklace highlights the Navette shape, alternately in gold and glass. The colorful neck cords complemented each with a small cowbell pendant are a reminiscence of her native Allgäu region. Doris Neumann received several awards for her work which is also represented in important international collections.
