Yasmin Mirza-Zadeh skillfully unites Oriental and Occidental elements in her pieces. By combining the magnificent ornamentation of the Orient with the aesthetics of European lace this designer of German and Iranian descent also falls back on her own roots, thus creating a new formal universe that unites tradition and modernity. Her Kroko rings look as if the clear-cut bands were clad in lace, while her Space oddity lace brooch is dominated by Oriental influences. In 2007 Yasmin Mirza-Zadeh won the 1st prize of the Tahitian Pearl Trophy competition.
