Monika Glöss

1955 Born in Essen, Germany
1982–1986 University of Applied Sciences, Düsseldorf
1993 Founded her atelier in Berlin

The pieces created by Monika Glöss are characterized by geometric shapes and flexible constructions serving as playful elements. In 1992 she discovered stainless steel wire as a new jewelry material, using its special fineness and flexibility to develop her open, variable necklaces. The tension-based mechanism used in the earrings she designed in 1994 and 1995 are an integral design element. Her silver Double Rings, created in 2001, are composed of two superimposed ring bands. The golden square, circular or linear cube on the inner ring protrudes from the outer ring’s opening. Some of Monika Glöss’s minimalist pieces have been awarded at design and jewelry competitions.
