Organic natural shapes are an important source of inspiration for Nina Georgia Friesleben. Crafting the sculptural shapes from platinum intensifies her pieces’ aura of rareness and preciousness. The pendants, bangles, rings and earring variants of her “Moule” collection are characterized by open, hollow bodies which, being mirror-polished both on the inside and the outside, reflect and thereby slightly distort the surroundings. However, their mysteriously shining inside is also intended to provide “space for immaterial thoughts and ideas”. Feminine and luxurious while at the same time sleek and modern, these pieces of jewelry allow for a wealth of interpretations. The platinum “Moule” ring was honored in 2010 with the Inhorgenta Europe Innovation Prize. “I could craft this ring only in platinum because it is very delicate and thin-walled. Using platinum confronts me with the challenge of creating jewelry with added value and character,” this designer explains.
